Typical timeline · 12–18 months (registration); ™ symbol usable from day 1 · CS-led · custom quote

What is a Trademark Registration?

A trademark is a visual representation (name, logo, tagline, device) that distinguishes your goods or services from others. Registration gives you exclusive rights to use the mark across India, the right to sue for infringement, and the ability to licence or franchise. The process is long — 12–18 months from filing to certificate — but protection begins the moment you file, and the ™ symbol is usable from day 1.

FAQ

Common questions

How long does trademark registration take?

12–18 months from filing to final registration certificate. However, you can use the ™ symbol from the day you file, and you gain enforceable rights from the date of application.

What is a class in trademark law?

India follows the Nice Classification system, which sorts goods and services into 45 classes. A trademark is registered within specific classes — you cannot assume registration in one class protects you across all classes.

What's the difference between ™ and ®?

™ can be used from the day of filing an application. ® can be used only after the trademark is officially registered.

What if my trademark is rejected?

You can respond to the examination report (we handle this). If still rejected, you can attend a hearing or appeal. We include one round of response in all tiers; the Growth tier includes two rounds.
