◈Definition
A Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a 10-character alphanumeric identifier issued by India's Income Tax Department. Every company, LLP, and registered individual taxpayer has a unique PAN. For companies, the fourth character of the PAN is always 'C'. PAN is issued alongside CIN at incorporation through the SPICe+ flow and is the identifier used across all income-tax filings.
