Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN)

The 15-character identifier assigned to every GST-registered business.

Definition

A GSTIN is the 15-character identifier assigned to every entity registered under the Goods and Services Tax regime. Structurally: first 2 characters state code, next 10 characters PAN, 13th character entity count within the state on the same PAN, 14th character 'Z' by default, 15th character check digit. GSTIN is distinct from CIN — a company has one CIN but may have multiple GSTINs (one per state of registration).
