The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is the Government of India ministry responsible for India's statistical system and socio-economic surveys. MoSPI maintains the National Industrial Classification (NIC), publishes the Index of Industrial Production, the Consumer Price Index, and the quarterly and annual national accounts. For CorpIntel's purposes, MoSPI's NIC 2008 taxonomy is the canonical source for industry classification.
